Terms

ARCHV is run by Matthew McConnachie, a sole trader in Scotland, trading as ARCHV, at Office 1763, 3 Fitzroy Place, 1/1, Sauchiehall Street, Finnieston, Glasgow G3 7RH, United Kingdom. You can reach us at [email protected].
These terms cover your use of archv.fashion, a Paid membership, and any order you ask us to buy for you.
What ARCHV is
ARCHV collects sold and live listings of archive fashion from marketplaces and boutiques (Grailed, Mercari, Rakuma, Yahoo! Auctions, Vestiaire Collective and others), matches them to the pieces they show, and works out what each piece sells for. We do this with software, and we check a lot of it by hand, but some listings will sit on the wrong piece and some prices will be off. Treat our figures as a guide, and check the listing itself before you buy.
We aren’t connected to the brands we cover or to the marketplaces we collect from. Listing photos belong to their sellers. If you own something we show and want it taken down, email [email protected] and we’ll remove it.
Links to proxies
Japanese listings link to proxy services (Remambo, ZenMarket, FromJapan) that buy from Japan for you. Some of these links carry our referral code, and we may earn a commission or credit if you sign up or buy through them. You deal with the proxy directly, on their terms, and they handle your order.
Your account
One account per person. Keep your password to yourself, and tell us if you think someone else has used your account. We may suspend accounts made in bulk or used to copy our data at scale.
Paid membership
Paid costs £9.50 a month or £85 a year, or $12 a month or $108 a year in the US. We take payment through Stripe, and your card statement shows ARCHV. We don’t sell Paid in the EU yet.
Your membership renews at the end of each month or year until you cancel. You can cancel from your account page at any time, and you keep Paid until the end of the period you’ve paid for. See Refunds for when we give money back.
When we buy for you
On a Japanese listing you can ask us to buy the piece for you. We act as your buying agent: we buy it for you with our account, have it checked when it reaches our forwarder in Japan, and ship it to you.
- When you order, we hold the item’s price and our fee on your card. We only charge it once we’ve bought the piece. If we can’t buy it, we release the hold and you pay nothing. Card holds last about seven days.
- Our fee is 15% of the item’s price, at least £25. We work out the item’s price in pounds from the listing’s yen at the day’s exchange rate, and charge your card in pounds. If your card is in another currency, your bank converts it, and we show you roughly what that comes to before you order.
- On an auction, you tell us the most you’ll pay. We bid up to that, and charge you what we actually pay plus our fee on that.
- International shipping isn’t included. Once your piece is packed, we email you a link to pay for it, and we ship once you’ve paid.
- You’re the importer. Import VAT, duty and any courier handling charges in your country are yours to pay when the parcel arrives.
- We can decline an order, for example a listing that looks fake or a seller we don’t trust.
We buy each piece on your instruction from a private seller, and once we’ve bought it we can’t send it back. So you can’t cancel an order once we’ve bought the piece, and we don’t take change-of-mind returns. If the piece arrives materially different from its listing, tell us within 14 days of delivery and we’ll put it right (see Refunds). This doesn’t affect your legal rights.
Liability
We provide the price data as it is, and we aren’t liable for decisions you make with it. For an order we buy for you, our liability is limited to what you paid us for it. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law doesn’t allow us to limit, such as for death or injury caused by negligence, or fraud.
Changes and law
We may update these terms, and we’ll date each change at the top. If a change affects your Paid membership or an order in progress, we’ll email you first. Scots law governs these terms. If you live elsewhere in the UK, you can bring a claim in your local courts, and the consumer law where you live still protects you.
